Pair your devices once

Open todevice on your laptop, scan the QR code with your phone. Your devices are now trusted — no re-pairing, no codes to retype.

Pick a device, drop a file

Choose which of your devices should receive it, then drag a file in or paste text. Everything is encrypted in your browser before it leaves.

It arrives, then it's gone

The other device gets a notification, downloads, and decrypts locally. The encrypted copy on our servers is automatically purged after delivery or expiration.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from AirDrop or LocalSend?

AirDrop is Apple-only, so it cannot reach a Windows or Android device at all. LocalSend and similar tools are cross-platform but need your devices to find each other on the local network, which campus, office and hotel Wi-Fi routinely block with client isolation. todevice uses normal outbound HTTPS, so it works where local discovery fails — and on an open home network, where those tools do work, they will be faster than us.

Can todevice read my files?

Files, filenames, and text are encrypted on the sending device, and the relay is never given the decryption keys — our servers store only ciphertext, temporarily. We can see metadata like encrypted package size and timestamps. Our privacy page spells out exactly what we can and cannot see, including the honest limits of browser-based encryption.

Do I need to install anything?

No. todevice runs entirely in the browser on iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS, and Linux. You can optionally install it as a PWA for quicker access.

What happens if my other device is offline?

The encrypted package waits for it — up to an hour by default. When the device comes back it picks up the transfer; after expiry the package is purged. For sensitive sends you can shorten the wait to 10 minutes.

Is it free?

Yes — the beta is completely free: two devices, files up to 500 MB, and 5 GB of transfer per month. No card, no trial countdown.
