todevice

Terms of service

Beta terms · July 2026

The service

todevice lets you send end-to-end encrypted files and text between your own trusted devices and people you have mutually accepted as contacts. During the beta the service is free and provided as-is, without uptime guarantees.

Your account

You are responsible for your account credentials and for the devices and contacts you choose to trust. Remove devices or contacts you no longer trust from your dashboard.

Acceptable use

Don't use todevice to distribute malware, infringe others' rights, or break the law. We cannot read your encrypted content, but we can and will suspend accounts for abusive usage patterns (volume, automation, spam-like contact requests).

Your content

Everything you send is encrypted on your device before upload; we store only ciphertext, temporarily, until delivery or expiration. We claim no rights over your content. Deleted and expired transfers are purged from our storage.

Limits

The free beta includes 2 trusted devices, files up to 500 MB, 5 GB of transfer per month, and a 1-hour hold for offline devices (10 minutes in sensitive mode). Limits may be adjusted operationally to prevent abuse — we'll announce meaningful changes.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which removes your devices and pending transfers. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Liability

The beta is provided without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. Keep copies of anything important — todevice is a delivery service, not a backup service.
